Finished products in this sector are generally highly customized, to address the multi-faceted customer requirements. Production is usually governed under a MTO (Make To Order) or, in some cases, ETO (Engineering To Order) approach. On the contrary, in other cases products are

customized only at BoM top level and assemblies and components are standardized. In such cases (ATO, Assembly To Order) the lower levels of the BoM can be produced and stocked on the basis of forecast data while the final assembly can be postponed until customer orders are received.
